Freshman Marcus Ferguson is just finishing his first year as a member of the Mizzou Track and Field team, and one thing is certain, the jumper from Waynesville, Missouri is a student first and was recently named to the Omicron Delta Kappa list of top freshmen at the University of Missouri.
Only the best 14 students in their first year of college are selected to the group and Marcus is definitely deserving of the award. In his first year Marcus excelled academically by being named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Role. Additionally, he has served in the community by mentoring youth as a member of the Black Men's Initiative and participating in the Starlight Reading Program.
Congratulations to Marcus Ferguson!

University of Missouri women's soccer player Kari Adam was honored at the 83rd Annual Tap Day held on the Mizzou campus Friday. The event recognizes student leaders who have performed notably in academics and extracurricular activities based on their scholarship, leadership, and service achievements.
Adam was inducted into the Mystical Seven secret society, which selects seven outstanding members each year and is the second oldest secret honor society on campus with origins in 1907.
Mizzou seniors Jana Hainey, Michaele Vock and Gina Schneider, juniors Marla Schweisberger and Abby Vock and sophomores Ashley Fleming, Chelsea Thomas and Kristin Nottelmann were all named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. The eight members from the 2010 squad tie for the second most in Missouri history. The 2006 team also had eight, while last year’s program had 12 student-athletes selected.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. All position players nominated must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests, while pitchers are required to have at least one inning pitched per game played by the team or have appeared in 20 percent of their team’s total games. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
