My sister and I have volunteered at the Humane Society for numerous years. I have a passion for dogs and it is a great feeling to go there and play with the wonderful dogs whenever I can. When I am stressed out, I go to the Humane Society and pick out a dog and run for an hour or so with it. It is good for me and the dog. I know it helps make their day a little better! :)
One dog in particular, I fell in love with. My sister and I would go back every day and walk/run this dog. Finally, we couldn't help but adopt it. Our parents did not like the idea much but now none of us can imagine our lives without Mack. Mack is a funny dog and has been a part of my family for almost two years. The day my sister and I brought him home he was so confused. Mack was about 3 years old and we think he may have been abused by his previous owner. He seemed to have never been inside a home before because we had to teach him to walk up and down the stairs and do other simple things like walking in doors. I also don't think he ever learned the difference between his inside and outside voice. It was very funny; my parents were not as amused. He was always a little worried that we would never come back home when we left the house but since then, he has realized we would never leave him behind and is very comfortable with the Stokes family.
Mack’s favorite treats are ice cubes and carrots. He loves fetch more than anything and if you say the word 'ball', 'run', or 'fetch' he will go crazy!
Mack now lives at home with my dad, mom, and sister. I can't image living life without a dog. No matter what kind of mood you are in throughout the day, you know your dog will never be mad at you. Every time I walk through the door being greeted by Mack is the best feeling in the world! :)
