Behind the Scenes is a feature that introduces, one person at a time, all those who work hard to make sure Mizzou provides the best services for our student athletes. Take a look back each week to meet the wonderful workers in the department – behind the scenes.
Name: Dr. Bryan Maggard
Title: Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Student Services
Started at Mizzou: June 1995
Job responsibilities: Provide administrative oversight for all student service areas to include academic services, athletics dining hall, equipment operations, life skills programming, sport and counseling psychological services, sports medicine, and strength & conditioning. Serve as member of the Department of Athletics Executive Staff.
Favorite Mizzou sports memory: Triple overtime victory in football against Oklahoma State in 1997.
Favorite sport to watch and play: College football would have to be my favorite sport to watch as I have grown up being a fan of the game. At the age of 42, I don’t really play sports anymore…body breaks down too easy these days! :)
Favorite quote: Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude. Ralph Marston
Favorite restaurant in Columbia: So many good places to choose from… how about Murry’s, Bambino’s, and Southside Pizza to name a few.
Do you have a funny story/memory about a student-athlete? Best memories are of seeing hundreds of student-athletes come to Mizzou and helping them grow and develop into mature and educated adults.
If you could trade places with one famous person, who would you be? I am really content being me…maybe I’ll be famous myself some day!
What are some things on your bucket list? Not sure what a bucket list is!?!
What is something very few people know about you? I’m a registered member of the Cherokee Nation.
