The Mizzou volleyball squad, in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, will host a `Dig for the Cure' match on Sept. 16 when the Tigers square off against arch rival Kansas in the fall's first installment of the M&I Bank Border Showdown. $1 from each ticket sold will go directly to breast cancer research while Susan G. Komen breast cancer survivors will receive free admission to the event. Also, an announcement will be made during the match, recognizing the survivors in attendance for their courageous battle with breast cancer. Donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation will also be accepted on the concourse level throughout the match.
In addition to all of the events that will be held during the match, an online auction will also be held on MUTigers.com following the event. Fourteen pink autographed Mizzou volleyball jerseys will be up for bid and the proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Fans will also be able to purchase pink and black Mizzou volleyball t-shirts at the event for $10, once again with all proceeds going to aid breast cancer research.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation will also have a booth available at the event to help educate the general public in this disease. Fans are encouraged to come help support the Tigers in their `Border Showdown' and help the community in its showdown with cancer. For more information on this event, stay tuned to www.MUTigers.com.
